Thanks to Rebekah Palmer, Youth Services Librarian at Osceola Public Library for this guest post!

On Friday, February 12th, the young patrons at the Osceola Public Library had a blast cooking up some scrumptious food with the owner of The Watershed Cafe’s Rita Rasmussen. Rita was kind enough to come to our library and teach children how to make a healthy snack–Yogurt Banana Splits! Toppings included homemade granola, fruit, honey, and chocolate chips. We had an excellent turn out–almost 40 people attended the program and we have had interest in another class. In addition to the activities at the library, some patrons enjoyed hot chocolate together at the Watershed Café after the event–a great partnership.

We have a couple of exiting new programs in the works! Family Fort Night at the OPL-families can come to the library, choose some books, build a fort with sheets & blankets and enjoy reading in their own cozy nook.

We are also launching our School’s Out at the Osceola Public Library program. On in-service Fridays, families can come the library to enjoy a movie, snacks, crafts, a puppet theater, microscope and slides, and more.
