The Rusk County Community Library in Ladysmith, WI seeks a well-organized and energetic leader to direct the operations of their library. The library is part of the IFLS Library System and MORE system.

The library serves a county of over 12,000 residents in rural western Wisconsin. Nestled in the scenic beauty along the Flambeau River, this family-friendly area offers a variety of arts events and outdoor activities for all ages.

Responsibilities: The Library Director reports to a seven-member Board of Trustees and is responsible for the overall management of the library. Essential duties include building and maintaining our collection, managing the dual library budget funded by the City of Ladysmith and Rusk County, supervising the library staff of 7 people (5.28 FTEs), planning programs for adult patrons, developing community partnerships, and promoting the library within the City of Ladysmith and Rusk County.

Qualifications: Candidates must be eligible for Wisconsin Grade 1 certification. A Library Science Master’s Degree is required. Three or more years of library experience is required; library administration experience is desirable. The ideal candidate shall also possess excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with library staff, the Library Board, the City of Ladysmith, Rusk County, and community organizations. Knowledge of current library practices, technology and trends is required.
