Weekly Digest

Remember that this is the second of two Weekly Digests for the week! To view this one on your browser, or to see previous Weekly Digests, go to the IFLS blog page.

Library directors: Act 150 reimbursement hard deadline

The absolute final deadline is July 1. It is best to file your county funding request early. John sent out a detailed email to directors on 5/19. Contact him if you need more information or assistance.

Someone may be waiting for that kit!

Summer is here, programs are hot, and it’s a great time to use the Programming Kits available from IFLS, NWLS, and WVLS to help you jazz up your programs in a cost-effective way.  It’s great to see so many reservations for things!

When things are busy, reservations are even more likely to be back-to-back.  Please send your items to the owning system so that they arrive back by the due date so none of your colleagues from other libraries are left in the lurch!  Remember, we send items out on the first day of your reservation and expect them back to us on the last day of your reservation.  Thanks for helping us keep things flowing smoothly.

Group Supplies Order update

  • Spine Labels have arrived! Sarah will be sending these out to libraries that ordered them over the next few days. If your library forgot to order spine labels this year, IFLS has a limited number of extra rolls in stock. Contact Sarah Szymanski [email protected] if you need a roll or two.
  • Barcodes should be delivered to the IFLS office in about a week. We will send them out to you immediately after that.
  • 1-disc DVD cases from CCI Solutions (backordered) will be delivered to the IFLS office in the next few days. We will send you what you ordered asap after we receive them.

Thank you for your patience with the supply orders this year. As always, any questions can be directed to Sarah [email protected].

If you handed out more than 60 stickers last year, additional stickers are on their way via courier to add to your passport toolkit.

Cecelia is investigating this as a possible alternatives to IFLS’s current language learning subscription, Transparent Language. Follow these steps:

  1. Try one or both of these options:
  2. Take the survey! After you’ve had a chance to test the platform, please take a few minutes to provide feedback via this short survey. Multiple staff from the same library are encouraged to respond! Big thanks to all who have already tried it out and provided feedback!
Additional Information on Mango Languages:
Note on cost: Our current subscription to Transparent Language is funded through the IFLS budget, not MORE. As we review possible alternatives, we’ll also evaluate how/if these could fit into the IFLS budget. We are currently waiting on the vendor to provide us with a quote and will take this into consideration along with your survey feedback.
