Like many of you, I love the content in the Jbrary blog.  This blog started as a resource for hundreds of storytime songs, rhymes, and fingerplays.  It includes a ton of great resources for people who are new to storytime, along with probing and thoughtful articles considering service to the youngest children and their caregivers.

Though Lindsay Krabbenhoft, the author of the blog, doesn’t post as often as she used to, the content she does post nearly always catches my eye.  Her latest post is about caregivers on devices in storytime, and is a well-organized and contextualized summary/compilation of ideas and hints from library workers from all over Canada and the United States!  One key takeaway for me was encouraging an empathetic response to caregivers who might be running on empty and storytime is their first chance to not have sole responsibility for their charges!  I appreciated the reminder that these caregivers are already going above and beyond to get their kids to storytime.  At the same time, being clear about behavior guidelines is helpful!  Check out the article for a treasure trove of thought-inspiring perspectives!
