CSLP (Collaborative Summer Library Program) Manual Access

The Collaborative Summer Library Program is a multi-state effort to make planning for summer easier for public libraries.  One of the products that the CSLP provides is a Manual that includes programming ideas for all ages (babies through adults), promotional resources and ideas, graphics, activity sheets, booklists, and other things that might be useful.  The theme for 2026 is Unearth a Story, and there is a lot of cool dinosaur/paleontology stuff in the manual.  You need a code to access the manual.  Please contact Leah for the code!

All Wisconsin public libraries have access to the online CSLP Manual thanks to funding from the Bureau of Libraries at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, with funding support from an LSTA grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.  Each library building will be able to access/download one manual, so please share with each other!

CSLP Store Group Order

Shipping costs from the CSLP Store have always been high, and they have gone up again.  We are considering the cost-benefit of offering a group order of merchandise from the CSLP Shop, probably placing an order in mid-December if we do so.  If you were planning to make an order, or if you would like to but have decided the shipping price is too high, please fill in this short form by the morning of Friday 11/14 if someone from your library hasn’t already done so.  We have close to enough interest to make this possible already.

CSLP Summer Symposium and Webinars

Upcoming Professional Development from the Collaborative Summer Library Program includes:

    • Universal Design:  Inclusive Approaches to Public Librarianship (November 13 1-2 pm) Register here.
    • Summer Symposium (December 4, 10-3:30), with a great schedule including a keynote from author/illustrator Dan Santat, highlights from the CSLP Manual, hands-on science ideas, and creating inviting and exciting environments through decorations. Register here. Can’t make the day?  You can register to receive a recording, as well!

DPI Youth Services Weekly Reminders

Do you get weekly reminders from our state consultant Jeni Schomber?  These are amazing, chock full of grant opportunities, invitations to participate in cohorts, and much more.  If you aren’t currently subscribed, send an email to [email protected] to request to be added to her list.

Summer Program Webinar series, presenters sought!

I’m planning a series of webinars for early next year, hopefully featuring presenters from IFLS libraries!  I may be reaching out to you in the next couple of weeks, I’m looking for volunteers to be on webinar panels, so get your thinking caps on about whether or not you might like to share, and feel free to reach out to me with questions or ideas.  Here’s what I’m looking for (bonus for ideas about these that have included partnerships and collaborations with your community):

  • All ages programming
  • Programs for the early childhood crowd
  • Programs for school age crowd
  • Programs for teens
  • Reading/learning challenges and how they work for you

Harry Potter Paraphernalia Give-Away

Maureen Welch, a retired IFLS employee, donated a big bag of Harry Potter memorabilia and audiobooks (on CD) to distribute to interested in IFLS Libraries.  If you are interested in receiving any of an assortment of models and other HP trinkets to use as giveaways, or if you would like any of the CDs to use for your collection or to replace broken ones please send me an email.  If you want audiobooks, please indicate specific titles you are interested.  I’ll honor as many requests as possible, and plan to distribute all the loot next week 11/13, so let me know by then!
